The Petroleum Exploration and Production Association of New Zealand (PEPANZ) is an incorporated society, operating as a trade association, which promotes the interests of petroleum producers and explorers in New Zealand. Formerly known as PEANZ (Petroleum Exploration Association of New Zealand), the association was renamed in late 2004 to reflect the fact that the membership included most of the hydrocarbon producing companies in New Zealand.

 WHOM DOES IT REPRESENT?

PEPANZ was set up to represent private sector companies which hold petroleum exploration and mining permits, and service companies and individuals working in the industry.

The primary objective of PEPANZ is to publicise, promote and advance the interests of the oil and gas exploration industry in New Zealand.

This includes:

Participating in policy and legislative initiatives to foster an environment conducive to the exploration industry.
Promoting industry awareness on environmental and safety issues.
Publishing information on the exploration industry.
Collecting and sharing information on the industry.
Organising and presenting seminars on topics of interest to the membership.
Articulating the industry's position on matters of common interest, for example:

Crown Minerals Act and Petroleum Programme
Land Access Issues
Health & Safety issues
Environmental issues
